Dain House is a personal publishing imprint founded by Dain to publish and share books on her own terms. Its primary focus is the existential novel, and its first publication is Human-Fish, written and designed by Dain herself.
The brand identity is rooted in the concept of “The Paper Roof.” A book resting atop the head becomes a symbolic shelter from the noise and expectations of the world. The logo combines the motifs of the paper roof, a steady gaze, and an expressionless face, embodying a return to one’s most honest and authentic self.
Human-Fish is the first publication of Dain House Publishing Group. It is a novel exploring the tension between life and death, following a dead fish that longs to live and a human who wants to die.
The story begins with the idea that life has a fixed beginning and end—we are born and will inevitably die—leading to the belief that everything we do is ultimately meaningless. In response to this perspective, the Human-Fish character is introduced, a being born from death. Through this figure, the story suggests that while the beginning and end are fixed, the way we live in between can still change, ultimately encouraging us to live the process of life rather than wait for death.
